Williams Lake Mayor Walt Cobb issued a message to his community last night, as follows:
Sunday night and hopefully we are just ending the thunder and lightening storm . Just finished the daily conference call. A number of lightening strikes today and once again we are ok here in the city. Once again no new fires or expansion near town. The last hour or so information may not be available yet so if you see anything that even resembles a fire call in immediately. *5555 or 911. Our fire crews are maxed out and any new fires will take fighters away from the larger ones in order to contain any new ones.
For those of you still away from home we had a mixed bag today. Beautiful morning with a little rain last night. The smoke started rolling in about 10:30. Very Smokey then the rain came a couple of times. Not enough but beter than nothing. One more safe day here in the city and as one person said all hell broke loose and mother nature kicked ass in some areas.
More rain needed.
Finally - friendly reminder to continue to rely ONLY on official sources for Evacuation Alerts or Orders from your local government website or Facebook page or through the local media - Tribune (click here) or Vista Radio (click here).
