In Quesnel:

2) 13th Annual Awards Gala for the Quesnel Community Foundation takes place on Saturday, April 5th at the local Seniors' Centre in Quesnel.  $60,000 of grants, scholarships and agency grants will be handed out at the Awards Gala.  Read more here

In Williams Lake:

1) After Friday's decision that the Williams Lake Community Forest had been approved - Cariboo RD Area F Director Joan Sorley tells the Williams Lake Tribune that she has asked for a meeting with Williams Lake Mayor Kerry Cook & WL Indian Band Chief Ann Louie to see if there is some 'common ground' that can be met so something can be taken back to the rural communities of Big Lake, Miocene and Horsefly for consideration - read here

2) The Tribune reports that the City of Williams Lake has spent $300,000 in legal fees for the fiscal year ending Dec 31st, 2013.  In contrast, the City spent a mere $72,896 in 2008.  Mayor Cook explains why the high figure in 2013 includes the City unionized employee strike in 2013, the dispute with the Cariboo RD over Rural Fringe Fire Protection and City personnel issues and she hoped 2014 would not see a repeat of the amount for legal fees for 2013.  Read more here

3) The Coy Cup tournament started at the CMRC with our local team - the Williams Lake Stampeders won in a 8-7 fashion after being down 5-2 after 40 mins of play.  Read more here
