MMBC Pushback

A group of business associations representing tens of thousands of B.C. small businesses and their employees in the agriculture, newspaper publishing, landscaping, printing and custom manufacturing, retail, wholesale, food, and waste collection sectors are launching a first series of ads in 130 newspapers and on social media – tagged #RethinkItBC – to ask for a slowdown for of the MMBC Process commencing in May. The business associations include:

BC Agriculture Council
BC Bottle Depot Association
BC Landscape and Nursery Association
BC Printing & Imaging Association
BC Yukon Community Newspapers Association
Canadian Federation of Independent Business
Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters
Newspapers Canada
Waste Management Association of BC

They are asking BC's Premier Christy Clark and the provincial Minister of the Environment Mary Polak to rethink the MMBC Plan set to commence in May.  Read their full press release here

Given the most recent experience by the City of Kamloops with the MMBC Plan - I think that a slowdown is warranted and ensuring that everyone is 'on-board' and 'comfortable' with the future direction of recycling in this province…
