The City of Williams Lake is pleased to announce that Gary Muraca has been appointed as Chief Administrative Officer, effective immediately.

As the City’s Director of Municipal Services for the past six years, Gary brings with him a wealth of knowledge of the City’s functions, and is an extremely valued member of the senior management team.

He was awarded the Public Works Association of BC’s prestigious “Manager of the Year” award in 2017, and has over 24 years’ experience in local government operations. “I am excited and truly grateful for this opportunity,” states Muraca. “I look forward to the challenges and rewards my new position will provide, as well as working with our team and Council to continue to move our community forward.”

“We are extremely pleased that the City’s succession plan has resulted in Gary’s promotion,” states Williams Lake Mayor Walt Cobb. “We are looking forward to building on the successes and momentum of the previous years, and are confident that Gary’s enthusiasm, professionalism, and knowledge of City operations will guide us into the future.”

Although it's a well deserved promotion for Gary Muraca who worked wonders in the public works department, he is unlikely to get the "free ride" that City Council gave former CAO Milo MacDonald who was hired for all the wrong reasons.
