The Regional District proposes to borrow $500,000 over a 10 year period (voter assent is required) for a new Primary Fire Engine for the Wildwood Volunteer Fire Department (VFD) as a result of Fire Underwriters' Survey regulations and must be replaced in the couple of years in order to maintain Wildwood VFD's certification
In order to keep stable tax rates for Wildwood Fire Protection (3.25% increase over years 2021-2025 inclusive which includes covering the costs necessary to borrow the $500,000, otherwise it would be a 20% increase in 2021, then 3.25% over years 2022-2025) and yet have the money necessary for the Wildwood VFD to purchase the other equipment it needs - this is the best path forward. Voter assent will be obtained via Alternative Approval Process or AAP in order to keep costs as low as possible
If you are NOT opposed -- you don't have to do anything.
If you ARE opposed - you MUST fill out an AAP Opposition Form and return it to the CRD Williams Lake office by October 14th. Full details on this can be viewed at https://www.cariboord.ca/services/emergency-and-protective-services/firedepartments
If you have any questions about the AAP process for Wildwood VFD -- please contact the Regional District's Manager of Corporate Services, Alice Johnston, by email at ajohnston@cariboord.ca or by phone at 250-392-3351, otherwise happy to answer questions regarding this initiative...
