ARTSfest 2011 in Quesnel

The Central Regional Arts Council's travelling, juried art exhibition ARTSfest 2011 is on display for the month of June in the Quesnel Artrium at the Quesnel and District Arts & Recreation Centre.
The exhibit showcases selected art works by nine regional emerging artists of the B.C. Central Interior.

Christa Krisman, a Quesnel artist, has had her painting Broken Record selected as part of the touring exhibit, which travels to Bella Coola in July.

"As an immigrant, a musician and painter, I often had to make cultural adjustments after I came to Canada," said Krisman. "This painting represents the loss of harmony I felt. Music and painting became the bridge to helping me adjust to our new home."

Caroline Anders, a Wells artist who has recently had a solo show in the Quesnel Art Gallery, has also had her painting Horns and Windows chosen for ARTSfest 2011.

"Horns and Windows was painted in 2010 in my Wells studio. I incorporated nature and structure with this piece by having an animal and windows together," explained Anders. "This was a fun, relaxing piece I painted and I love the silly human animal 'sheepman.'"

"This is a great time to come visit us here at the Art Centre," adds Elizabeth Waldorf, Arts Program Coordinator for Leisure Services. "View the Artrium permanent collection, see the current Quesnel Art Gallery show, Evolution - Hide, Rust and Bone by Vancouver textile artist Patricia Chauncey, and of course the ARTSfest 2011 exhibit displayed in the Artrium cases."
