New 1 Hour Parking Signs at Boitanio Park

Very recently, the City of Williams Lake installed "1 Hour Parking" signs for people visiting the Friday Farmers' Market in Boitanio Park from 10am - 3pm.  Please note - vendors for the Friday Farmers' Market are allowed to park in Boitanio Park at no cost to them

According to WL City Staff - this was done after on-going issues from people working at the provincial government's "Resource Building" (640 Borland St) and parked on 8th Avenue, running parallel to Boitanio Park but left no room for people to park and attend Boitanio Park for the Friday Farmers' Market and other events that may take place in the Park during the week.  Please note that there is ample pay parking behind the Resource Building at $16.00 per month.

The one hour parking is for people who are taking in the Friday Farmers' Market and not for people working at 640 Borland and do not want to pay to park while working

8th Avenue is the only area for parking for people who want to attend Boitanio Park and I applaud the City for trying to restrict parking for this purpose and shame to those who work in 640 Borland who are denying parking to those who want to make use of Boitanio Park because they don't want to pay for parking.  There are other options available including:

1) Walk/Cycle to work
2) Take an Taxi to work
3) Car Pool
4) Take Transit
5) Pool money together to pay for parking at the local Recreation Complex (CMRC)

Finally - if any resident of Williams Lake continues to have concerns about parking on 8th Avenue that runs parallel to Boitanio Park, I strongly encourage residents to contact the City's General Manager of Planning & Operations at the following:

Ph: 250-392-2311 and ask for Geoff Goodall
