City of WL publishes Rural Fire Protection Q&A

Editor's Note - not too sure describing what the City of Williams Lake Fire Department does has anything to do, in addition to describing provision of Hazardous Materials response, with the purely "funding debate" over Rural Fringe Fire Protection.  In talking with CRD Chair Al Richmond late Wednesday evening, I expressed my hope that the CRD will not response to this latest "advertisement" from the City of Williams Lake and not add anything to this already "toxic" fight and hopefully cooler heads can prevail, get to mediation, resolve it and move on to the other number of items that affect the City of WL/CRD at the moment including the Community Forest question and the resolution of how to address the immediate needs of the Sam Ketchum Pool at the Cariboo Memorial Complex

In order to respond to the questions the City of Williams Lake receives in regard to the issue of rural fringe fire protection, the City is releasing a Question and Answer document.

The document answers questions concerning the current negotiation with the Cariboo Regional District, the cost of City fire operations, and the Williams Lake Fire Department.

The City believes the Question and Answer document will help inform residents of both the City and the rural fringe areas, and welcomes further questions at 250-392-2311.
