On Jan 29th - the City of Williams Lake applied for 'Interested Party Status' before the Federal Review Panel reviewing Taseko Mines Ltd's "New Prosperity" proposal
Now - on Feb 8th - the City of Quesnel and the District of 100 Mile both applied for 'Interested Party Status' before the Panel as well. Quesnel goes so far as calling for a Panel meeting in Quesnel itself
Read the application from the City of Quesnel here and the District of 100 Mile House here
In Quesnel's application - they indicate that they received a suggestion from Taseko Mines's VP of Corporate Affairs, Brian Battison, that they (City of Quesnel) participate in the review process but acknowledge the deadline for Interested Party Status has now passed.
I believe the Panel, in light of these requests and a few others that have come forward in the last few days, should reject ALL late 'Interested Party Status' applications, as they came after the deadline. Failure to do so means the Panel will open itself to having to accept ALL Interested Party Status applications, late or not....
Finally - the local Conservation Society writes to Welcome to Williams Lake on this subject which you can read here
