In a routine budget meeting that saw the review of the Draft 2013 Capital Budget for the City of Quesnel but as well saw Quesnel Council also endorsing-in-principle a draft 2013 NCLGA resolution which calls for mandatory labelling of GMO (Genetically Modified Organism) food. View the "very good" resolution here. I agree with Mike Cave - consumer should always know what is in their food with "plain language" and not one where you have dig around to find the information
Also - a brief verbal clashing ensued during discussion on the proposed $27,500 FOI Budget for 2013 when , after Councillor Scott Elliot said that Council would have no way of knowing if multiple people or one person made an FOI request as per provincial law. Elliot's "one person" was viewed as an "attack" by Councillor Sushil Thapar who is known to have made FOI requests in the past. Committee of the Whole Chair (and Councillor) Ed Coleman clarified that Councillor Elliot spoke in "hypotheticals" and not of an actual situation
