60 Days to 2018 General Local Elections Day

In 60 days  -- the electors (voters') in the Districts of Wells/100 Mile House, Cities of Quesnel/Williams Lake and the Cariboo Regional District (Rural Areas) on Saturday, October 20th from 8am - 8pm will proceed to elect new Councillors, Mayors, Electoral Area Directors' and School Trustees for the 2018-2022 local government term

With the formal 10 day nomination period fast approaching (Tuesday, September 4 to Friday, September 14, 2018) -- people who may be considering a entry into local government or boards of education in the Cariboo-Chilcotin for the forthcoming 2018-22 term have limited time remaining to make up their minds with NO nominations being accepted after 4pm sharp! on Friday, September 14th

The currently known list as to who is running for each local government or Boards of Education in the Oct 20th local elections is listed below for your information:

Incumbents -- Mayor Bob Simpson (also current Cariboo-Chilcotin Regional Hospital District Board Chair) and Councillor Ron Paull to both seek re-election

Challengers - Fritz Wyssen

Retiring - Councillors Ed Coleman/John Brisco

Unknown - Councillors Scott Elliott, Laurey-Anne Roodenburg and Sushil Thapar

Area C - Director John Massier (current Cariboo RD Board Vice-Chair) to seek re-election

Area D - Director Steve Forseth to seek re-election

Area E - Director Angie Delainey to seek re-election.  Aware of an Area E resident to challenge Director Delainey for the Area E Director's seat and will be announcing in September

Area F - Director Joan Sorley to retire.  Brice O'Neill and Shannon Rerie both to seek the Area 'F' Director position

Area G - Director Al Richmond (current Cariboo-Chilcotin Regional Hospital District Board Vice-Chair) to seek re-election

Area H - Director Margo Wagner (current Cariboo RD Board Chair) to seek re-election

Area I - Director Dylan Cash retiring; no announced candidate(s) to date

Area J - Director Roger William has yet to publicly say if he'll seek re-election or retire

Area K - Director Betty Anderson to seek re-election
