Interlakes VFD Referendum Results Official!

Courtesy of the Cariboo Regional District:

The results for the Interlakes Area Fire Protection Service referendum (assent vote) held on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018, are now official. A total of 255 residents cast their ballots with 98 per cent of voters saying yes to replace two fire trucks via borrowing versus leasing, with no adjustment to current tax rates.

Including the two advance polls, mail ballots and general voting day, the Cariboo Regional District’s Chief Election Officer declared the following results this afternoon:
  • YES – 251
  • NO – 4
Residents voted on the following question:

“Are you in favour of the Cariboo Regional District adopting Bylaw 5147, which will authorize the borrowing of up to $800,000 over 10 years to replace two aging engine/pumper fire apparatus for the Interlakes Area Fire Protection Service?

(The estimated annual cost to undertake this borrowing will not require any adjustment to tax rates.)”
