WL ESS Reception Centre Receiving Evacuees

Courtesy of the City of Williams Lake:

To support the evacuees from northwest of Prince George, an Emergency Support Services (ESS) Reception Centre was activated on August 16, 2018 at the Lake City Secondary’s Williams Lake Campus at 640 Carson Drive in Williams Lake.

The Reception Centre is currently open from 8 am to 8 pm, and has registered three families so far and made arrangements for accommodation and food vouchers.

Dave Dickson, Manager of Community Safety, says, "The City of Williams Lake’s Emergency Support Services Reception Centre is fully operational, with many thanks to our amazing ESS volunteers who selflessly give of their time in an emergency. We are prepared to provide assistance to our neighbours who are evacuated from their communities, and are continually monitoring the wildfire situation."

The City of Williams Lake’s Emergency Operations Centre continues to operate at a Level One to monitor and communicate during this Provincial state of emergency.
